Rain
Things I like about rain:
1. The sound. Nothing is more relaxing than rain pattering on thin roofs and water and windows. Nothing.
2. The smell. I don’t know why rain has a smell, because it’s water. But it does. It’s so clean and refreshing.
3. The puddles. It’s so much fun to jump in puddles, and kick water at other people. Good clean fun (although you might get a little dirty).
4. The pattern of raindrops falling on water. Like on my pool. It’s so mesmerizing; I could stare at it for hours.
5. The reflection of stoplights on roads. When you’re driving in the rain at night, all of the road is gleaming red and green. It looks so strange, but very comforting at the same time.
6. The inside. When it’s raining outside, it feels so much warmer and cozier inside than it would if it were the same temperature and sunny. And a fire in the fireplace just looks and feels wonderful.
7. Being sad. If I’m sad, or melancholy, or just deep in thought, rain always makes me think really deeply, and all of my problems seem at once justified, so that I don’t feel like a pathetic whiner, and completely solvable. It actually makes me much more optimistic.
8. The light. When it’s completely overcast and raining, no matter if it’s just lightly misting or pouring and storming, light is so even and diffuse. There are no harsh shadows, and the sun can’t hurt your eyes. Colors are muted, and everything seems very still and calm, all very comforting.
9. The feeling on my skin. Nothing is better. I feel so happy when I’m being drenched by the water from the sky. I just feel so clean and natural, it’s like a baptism. I feel instantly invigorated no matter what I’m doing, and I just feel that living is wonderful.
